Streaming from android device ? - angostura - 2017-10-18 18:59

Hi folks,
I own a Linn DS for several years and playing music from a nas downstairs. With the kids growing up I want to straem some content directly from my phone or tablet (both android) to the DS.
This seems very difficult to me. Bubble Ds does not work , I do not know why.
Are there any other options ? With my old iPod touch it works flawless using airplay.
Thanks a lot for your help

Kind regards
Angostura

Did you configure Bubble DS (next) to access data on your phone/tablet?

How can I do this ?

I assume you are using the latest version (Bubble DS Next).

Tap the Main Menu ('hamburger') icon - top left of any Bubble screen. The menu that opens should identify the DS/DSM to which you are playing and the library you are using. If the library is shown as 'Local and Cloud', you are accessing local content. Below the entry there should be folder icons reating to that local content (music in your music folder on the Android device). Alternatively, tap the drop down arrow next to this entry to see the list of available servers and select your server on the NAS.

If this doesn't work for some reason, please come back and describe, step by step, exactly what is happening. Bubble is generally a very reliable and user friendly control point (better IMO than anything available for the iPad).

Deleted as I don't understand the answers?

Simple answer, as far as I am aware, is that you can't - there is no Android equivalent of Airplay? I have Songcast on my Windows laptop which works fine as well.

The OP is not asking about how to use BubbleDS as a Control Point for his NAS.

The clue is in the Thread Title "Streaming from android device ?"

Happy to resile if I've got the wrong end of the stick ...
Bubble DS can act as a local music server, the phone or tablet isn't merely a control point but a NAS as well.
David described the procedure correctly.

Hi David,
I installed the newest Bubble DS and follow your instruction. The DS shows the title in the display but there is no sound from the speaker.
-Update- on my second device it works

But I want a different thing. If I play a youtube video I want the sound streamed to the DS, like airplay can do. Is that also possible with Bubble DS ?

Obviousily Linn build a graet player but the control options are not as good as I expected

Kind regards

Angostura

Shouldn't have deleted my Post after all!

in your opinion there is no way to do this ?

RE: Streaming from android device ? - Tin - 2017-10-19 20:33

Not with a DS. With a DSM you could plugin a Chromecast.
I sort of hope that Bubble DS will support it in the future but I'm afraid that Google would have to make some steps first and it isn't in their interest to do so.

So Donald was indeed correct.
Still, if you want to stream local files from an droid, Bubble DS can do that.
