Balanced connection Question
Hi everyone,

I have the opportunity to upgrade to a Burmester amplifier. Just have a question about using my Lp12 > XLR T-kable > Uphorik > XLR silver > new amp.

The new amp states that the pinning of its balanced inputs are as follows: PIN1=GND, PIN2=NEG, PIN3=POS

My question is while this be compatible with the Linn cables? or could this result in an out of phase situation that i've been reading about?

thanks very much in advance and Happy holidays!

RE: Balanced connection Question
Are you sure it would be an upgrade? What's your current amp? I'm just asking because none of the Burmester gear that I have heard can play a tune, it's all hifi and bling-bling.

My system: LP12/Keel/Radikal/Ekos 2/Akiva/Linto/Akurate DSM/1/Cisco WS-C2960-8TC-L/ QNAP 219P II / Kudos /2 x Majik 6100-D/Akubarik (externally active).

hi, thanks, i'm moving on from a Luxman 509f.

I've auditioned the Burmester, though admittedly not with my LP12, and really liked what i heard!

Grateful for any info regarding the XLR pin configuration questions, thanks.

if it helps, current system as follows:

pin 1 - shield

pin 2 - hot (positive)

pin 3 - cold (negative)

According to an old post...https://forums.linn.co.uk/bb/showthread.php?tid=9215

Interesting, positive and negative do seem reversed.

Original 1978 Fluted Afromosia LP12, Ekos 2, Lyra Kleos SL and lots of other stuff from the 70's that still work fine.

RE: Balanced connection Question
I saw that post and was looking to confirm what 'hot'and 'cold' meant.

Not sure if that's a deal breaker, will do more research. Thanks very much.

RE: Balanced connection Question
Nothing wrong with Burmester gear apart from possibly the price. At least it does not look as though it was built in a shed at the bottom of someones garden. Let YOUR ears be the judge.

Big GrinBig GrinBig Grin indeed, the price had been an issue, but the only reason i considered even demo-ing Burmester is because I was offered a deal

happy holidays!
