Headspace?
I often listen through my headphones via a headphone amp fed from the analogue output of my Akurate DSM. I understood about a year ago to switch off space optimisation which is by the way quite a hassle. Now I started thinking should I do a separate optimising for this head of mine and if so what are its dimensions and material? What about windows?

Happy new listening dear linnies!

RE: Headspace?
Space optimisation is about rooms, not heads.

Quite possibly so, but the nasty thing about the internet is that it sticks and someone will read it and will consider it to be relevant.

True, sad though that is. Is the interweb the death of comedy? I fear so.

Hardly, the form changes though, but that happens all the time.

RE: Headspace?
Sorry the OP was trying to be funny. But seriously there is certainly resonance of the skull which affects our voices.
I tried and entered 0.2 meters depth width and height but the calculation did not subtract anything in the frequencies Konfig displays. No dramatic difference was heard.
But switching SO off is quite audible through the headphones.

As you have Exakt, SO will have done other invisible things. Time of flight being just one.

It is even worse, your skull and wet bits inside are used by a headphone to reproduce the low frequencies. This is why a headphone will sound thin the moment you disconnect it from your head.

I am sure the Skull Optimisation could theoretically be a thing, but I don't think it would use the same algoritms as Space Optimalisation.
I can also imagine that our brain already does that compensating by itself as everybodies skulls and wet bits are different, you only need to read the MQA thread for proof of the latter, and there isn't much discussion about some headphones sounding better on bigger heads or smarter people or whatever permutation you can think of.

TL, DR; Skull Optimisation is a thing but you already have a very decent implementation implemented in the wet bits inside your skull. Hooray! Big Grin
