Connect DS to macbook without router
Hello!

I would like to connect my DS to a macbook direct via ethernet cable and thunderbolt ethernet adapter - without any router (don't ask why)

Can someone help me with the network settings?

I have set ipv6 to link local - but it does not work...

Thank you!

My travel system : RKDS1 + Grimm Audio TPR XLR + Neumann KH120AW Studio Monitors

RE: Connect DS to macbook without router
Not possible. The DS can only be connected to a network, ie. it needs a router/DHCP to give it an IP address.

If you install a DHCP server on your macbook and configure it to use IPv4, it might work.
You will also need to install a music server and control point.
I don't have a macbook so I can't help you with the settings.

That's interesting. If it's to be believed it gives some credence to dedicated LAN ports such as the Melco. My QNAP has 2 ports but I wouldn't know where to start.

It is not worth worrying about it, as the first link states, ethernet is decoupled, power supplies can ruin things.

AFAIK,
Melco, Innuos and Sonictransporter i7 have two ports for bridging.
