Inner platter diameter consistency
Hi,

Just finished replacing a customer's LP12 old bearing and inner platter with a new Cirkus bearing kit and lo and behold the outer platter does not fit on top of the new inner platter. Sad

Has anyone seen this before?

There has been the odd tolerance issue, I have had the problem and dealer swapped over.

Only if very old inner.

Also an old outer is likely to be heavier than a new one.

Gotta say, my inner and outer were both new, new Cirkus kit and new platter with fitting issues. So it does happen. On saying that could have been an old batch of new.

Inner platter is brand new, outer is old.

You need to try find new outer then.

Have you tried rotating the outer platter in relation to the inner platter. My outer platter only fits in one location/orientation from new. I have a Sharpie mark across the joint to make life easy.

Yes, tried it and no luck.

Did you buy the Cirkus kit new? If so I would make it Linn's problem.

Bought a new Circus-kit & an outer platter 2 weeks ago (both coming from the same order)

Cirkus-kit No: 1459 496
Outer platter No: 1459 084 (hand-marked on the underside in blue: 4/18 084 which corresponds with the last 3 digits of the Ser No)

In my case there is play of round 0,2mm between the inner & outer platter which -in the world of ultra precision CNC machining- is too big but I am afraid there is nothing better available for this kind of money.

I would say you need both -Cirkus + outer platter- with close serial numbers.
