Removing a Naim Aro Tonearm for transportation
Hi,

I am probably going to take my Lp12 for a Kandid to be fitted,in terms of my Aro Tonearm (which has never been touched since the Lp12 was built) do I simply unplug it and then does the Aro simply lift out of its housing on the armboard with the anti skate arm etc remaining in place.

I have the original Aro packaging with the polystyrene cut out to allow the Aro to be boxed with the stylus guard still in place....

any advice appreciated

Fit the stylus guard. Unplug it and remove the antiskating weight. Lift it off, put the bit of foam that covers the "bearing housing" in place and finally put the arm top in the packaging. Simples.

Could someone also advise me on fitting an Akiva stylus guard...does it slide on from the front or push on from underneath...too many mishaps have made me anal about these things !

again any advice appreciated..

I also take the counterweight off - others don't but the packaging for my Aro necessitates it and I don't propose to modify the packaging

Fortunately Peter had modified the Aro Packaging to allow the tone arm & counterweight to fit....

Good point - I thought it was obvious as it wouldn't fit otherwise, but I guess pidge's is different.

The other thing is that I would remove the pillar from the armboard/Keel as well. Forgot to mention that.
