New cart?
Hey all hope this is the right place to post.

So I have a late 80's LP12 with some upgrades and mods. I have an OEM Riga RB808 arm and Im looking to swap out the 2M blue from my old table for a more transparent, tight separation, good soundstage, deep fast lows and clear precise high end..

My system I have a few:

pre's: Audible illusions 2C Pre, Linn Kairn (No Phono section), BK Sonata mc101, naim nac 32-5 (LO MC Phono section)

Amps: To many to name but Pair of Home built by me 4 x 5881 mono blocks Class A about 80 watts but so much current its silly, 2x BK sonata ex442, decaware SET 2W PA.

Speakers: Corner horns self built 98db, Mirage M3 & ProAc Super Tablets

Could get a Phono Pre but if MC HO would be easier although the NAIM would do .2mV... Not sure if I want to go through building all new cables for that but am open

Friend recommended the Sumiko blue point EVOIII..

I saw this granted its $700+ but if really the one id do it.. The Shibata is a draw

https://www.needledoctor.com/HANA-MC-Pho...ge-Shibata

So the budget is around $500 US...

The topic is the progressive era was neither progressive or an era...... Discuss!

Any recommendations would be amazing!
:-)

Thanks in advance

Adam

Audio Technica VM740, Dynavector 10x5. The Sumiko is also a contender; but watch out for the unguarded cantilever. Ouch......Sad

A good match for your tonearm would also be the Rega Ania, it's at the same price level, too. And you would be able to use the Rega 3-point attachment as well.
However, the Hana SL is also a good alternative.

My system: LP12/Keel/Radikal/Urika/Ekos 2/Akiva/Akurate DSM Katalyst/ Kudos /2 x Majik 6100-D/Akubarik (externally active). Cisco WS-C2960-8TC-L/ QNAP 219P II / Grado PS500e.

Thanks Have you heard the Hana its high output would save me buying a transformer or a Phono pre over the Ania.. The reviews on Needle DR are amazing but how many people rag on High $ purchases LOL.

Thanks for any info

No, I haven't heard any of the Shibata versions. A cheap and logical step would also be to replace your existing 2M Blue with a 2M Black stylus.

Yep, you can easily upgrade from Red, Blue or Bronze to Black. The generator of the Bronze and Black is just slightly different from Red/Blue, but you can still do the upgrade. The Black has a Shibata cut nude diamond.

So I did it. I spoke to friends it did come down to the Black or the Hana.... Drum Roll

Bought the Hana. Speaking with Needle DR sealed it. James said his previous go to was the 2MBlack for a long while but the extension, openness and balance of the Hana was what pushed it over the top. He said that if this was not an OEM putting out their own it would be NORTH of $1000...

Looking forward to sampling it.

Will loop back after installed

Well done, it'll be a pretty nice upgrade from your 2M Blue.
